Orbera Weight Loss System

Orbera Weight Loss System

Weight loss is one of the most popular and in-demand facets of the aesthetic enhancement industry and with such an ever-increasing demand, it seems that every other day a new method seems to hit the market. And while some of them might be effective, and have some evidence of fact, the vast majority are scams and make use of trendy diets and fad treatments that simply don’t work! But at Goals Plastic Surgery, we offer our clients a number of amazingly effective options for weight loss and body contouring, using methods which are both surgical and non-invasive. We would like to introduce our clients to Orbera, one of the most noteworthy weight loss management methods around today!

The fully inflated Orbera Balloon. The deflated Orbera balloon is inserted through the esophagus and into the patient's stomach. Using a specially designed syringe, the balloon is then filled with a sterile, saline solution, to about the size of a grapefruit.

What is Orbera?

Orbera is a revolutionary new weight loss system that can help patients lose more than 3 times the weight they normally would using a traditional diet and exercise plan on its own.

Orbera utilizes an implanted gastric balloon, allowing patients to lose 50% more weight than other similar balloons! This balloon helps patients to stave off hunger, and control cravings – one of the hardest parts of losing weight and keeping the pounds off!

Plus! The Orbera plan includes a number of other important methods to create a full-scale, weight loss system. The plan itself is a year-long program, that can be broken down into 4 distinct phases.

See what these real life patients had to say about the Orbera Weight Loss System, as they answer some of your most frequently asked questions!

Step 1: The Balloon

One of the main benefits of the Orbera system is that unlike other gastric balloons, this one doesn’t have to be surgically implanted. In fact, it is administered orally, during an outpatient procedure that takes roughly 20-30 minutes.

First using a diagnostic endoscopy, we will make sure it is safe to deliver the balloon. Once you are lightly sedated, the deflated balloon is inserted into your stomach, through the esophagus. Then once it reaches your stomach, using a syringe, it is filled with a sterile saline solution to about the size of a grapefruit.

The deflated Orbera balloon is carefully passed through the esophagus, into the stomach.

Using the specially designed syringe system, the balloon is then carefully filled with a sterile, saline solution, to about the size of a grapefruit. The balloon helps patients to stave off hunger - placing a limit on the amount of food they can consume, while allowing them to feel full.

Step 2: Lifestyle Habits

For the next 6 months, the balloon will be inside your stomach, limiting the amount of food you can eat. This trains both your mind and body to feel fuller, faster and with far less food. In addition to this, you will have regular face to face meetings with our team, counseling you on certain lifestyle changes you must make and supporting you through this time of limited calories. You will learn how to exercise better for your body type and how to eat right for your body type as well.

These meetings will be with a dietician, fitness trainer, doctor and possibly even a psychologist. During the initial 6-month period, patients will experience the most drastic weight loss results, in some cases losing anywhere from 30-60 pounds!

Step 3: Removing the Balloon

Once the 6-month period is completed, it is important to change the way you eat based on what you have learned from our nutrition and wellness teams. Similar to the placement process, it will only take about 15-20 minutes to remove it from the esophagus.

The Orbera balloon re-trains the brain on when to anticipate "being full". Ensuring you can control your portions, even after its removed! After 6-months, the balloon is drained, and carefully removed via the esophagus.

The Orbera gastric balloon procedure is extremely safe, and is generally placed or removed in under 20 minutes! In fact, as a final safety precaution, before the balloon is placed, we perform a diagnostic endoscopy to ensure everything is in working order and you are able to support the balloon.

Step 4: Support & Coaching

This is one of the most beneficial aspects of the Orbera weight loss plan, as for the remaining 6-months you will work closely with your specialist and follow and fully-customized diet and exercise program, based on your specific needs and capacity.

Also, if needed, Orbera offers additional weight loss coaching and services, generally at an additional cost. Of course, while there have been countless success stories for Orbera, it may not be for everyone. Those with certain health issues may want to avoid this system, for more information or to schedule a consultation to find out if Orbera is right for you, be sure to contact Goals Plastic Surgery today.
