Having full lips is a major desire for many women. Fuller, more symmetrical lips give off the impression of beauty and sensuality. And just like with the rest of our body, lips tend to lose volume over time. Lips become wrinkled, and thin; without much of a discernable shape. Considering that mother nature can’t give us all the lips we see on our favorite Instagram models, lip augmentations are in high demand!
What is Lip Augmentation?
While many doctors perform augmentations using implants and fat transfer, the team at Goals Plastic Surgery recommends our patients go with simpler, less invasive, lip injectables. Injectables, such as Restylane are injected into the lips giving them a fuller appearance, better contour, and a discernable outline.
Are You a Good Candidate for Lip Augmentation?
Those individuals, both men and women who are good candidates for lip augmentation are generally those looking to achieve:
- Full, shapely lips.
- Restoration of lost lip volume, due to aging and other trauma.
- Greater definition, and lip contours.
- A reduction of wrinkles on or around the lips.
In addition, candidates can be any age, and have any size or shape of lips. It is important for candidates to have high skin elasticity, allowing their lips to handle the added volume. In addition, it is important to have strong mental and physical health, to handle the healing process both mentally and physically.
Lip augmentation at Goals Plastic Surgery is a fairly quick procedure, minimally invasive procedure. Our surgeons can complete a series of dermal filler injections in a matter of minutes. At the same time, many patients receive facial fillers to eliminate wrinkles around the mouth and nose area as well.
With Dr. Voskin’s unique perspective and years of experience give him the ability to perfectly pinpoint the point of injection for a patient’s lips. Allowing them to appear far more natural and not overdone as many doctors are known to do. The surgeons at Goals believe heavily in proportions rather than overfilling, choosing to match one’s lips to their facial features, and enhance their overall appearance.
Recovery & Aftercare
Generally, the recovery and aftercare for lip fillers is relatively short and simple – as patients can generally return to their daily activities immediately after. Many patients even have lip fillers done within an hour, as it is often referred to a “lunch-time procedure”. There will be some minor swelling, redness and possibly bruising – however, this should dissipate within a few days. Injections generally last for a minimum of 6 months – many patients will want to have a follow up appointment to have them redone, to maintain their appearance.
