In today’s society, butt procedures and augmentations, are extremely popular. From our favorite pop stars to “Instagram-famous” models; celebrities around the world are flaunting their well-endowed rear-ends! While many of them might be “real”, the truth is that the vast majority of these media-popularized booties are the product of plastic surgery and cosmetic enhancement. The Kim Kardashian’s of the world often go through a series of procedures in order to achieve their famous backsides!
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Buttock augmentation, or “Brazilian Butt Lift”, involves the creation of a larger, more shapely butt, using a fat transfer or the application of butt implants. Brazilian butt lift surgery can add volume to the butt, while giving you the perfect shape and custom proportions, to fit your waist and hips.
The procedure uses liposuction to remove fat cells from the thighs, abdomen, or other areas of the body; this fat is then added to your current buttocks.
Who is a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift?
During your consult, we will perform a thorough examination of the subject area to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure, taking into account, overall health and expectations.
The ideal candidate for a Brazilian butt lift are generally those who would like to increase the size, and better the shape of their backside. During the consult, your desires and needs of correction will be assessed and an adequate course of action will be determined. Patients must be in good physical health and must have a sufficient amount of fat in other areas of the body, in order to be transferred. At Goals Plastic Surgery we prefers to perform the surgery using a fat transfer as opposed to implants, as it is far less invasive and provides the most natural look and feel.
This also give patients the opportunity to eliminate excess fat from certain problem areas!
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and oral sedation. The body is marked with guidelines for the desired correction (both the buttocks and the area from which fat will be transferred).
At the area from which fat will transferred, a small incision is made, and a small cannula is inserted. This will loosen up any fat cells and remove them from the area. The fat is then run through a centrifuge, to be filtered and purified; being broken down into the smallest particles makes it possible for fat cells to be injected.
Syringes are then loaded with the purified fat, then injected into the buttocks, following the necessary correction plan.
This method is quick and relatively painless, leaving virtually no scars on the body!
As the newly injected fat begins to settle and “mesh” with the existing tissue, the buttocks will start to assume their final shape. The recovery for this procedure is extremely important, as both areas must heal, simultaneously. For any pain or discomfort, oral pain medication may be prescribed. Patients should dedicate two weeks to recovery, resting as much as possible, and adhere to the following:
- Avoid lifting or intense workouts.
- Wear compression garments.
- Avoid infections by constantly cleaning sutures and incisions.
- Avoid direct contact and pressure on the buttocks for at least 48 hours following the procedure (sitting or lying on your back)
After a full two-week period, both the liposuction area as well as the buttocks will be fully healed and you can see the final product of your Brazilian butt lift! A new, larger, more shapely, backside, contoured exactly to your desires. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and weight should keep results permanently, however, the procedure can be repeated, down the line, if desired.
